Since May 2010

I started teaching fitness classes in 1999 (I was 22 years old) primarily teaching Spin classes. (Cause hey, teaching spin is basically just riding a bike... and you know what they say about THAT!) lol

In my 20's, I was a pretty normal girl, who did what I consider "normal" girl things.

Buying my own house when I was 25, getting braces when I was 28... these were was amongst my "normal" girl behaviours.

In 2008... I decided enough was enough.

Despite being a fitness instructor for then 9 years, I managed to GAIN 10 pounds... not of muscle, either... I felt FAT and something needed to be done to stop it!

I met with an amazing nutritionist (Elisa Choi) and the rest is history
                             (See the pics below!)

I started training with Wendy C-Ashby (of Endurance on 8th) and I also followed her competition nutrition plan.
I was able to lean out even further then I originally hoped and was more then ready to compete in my
FIRST Body Building competition in April 2009.

I chose to compete in the Fame Competition and on stage I weighed about 118lbs.

Thrilled with my accomplishments, I was not satisfied with my 3rd place finish... so I proceeded to push myself through yet ANOTHER competition in the Fall of THE SAME YEAR!

I decided to do the IDFA Fall Show in 2009.

Well, CRAY-ZAY things happen  when you push yourself too hard/far... stress can indeed cause illness to set it!

My Zumba & Bell's Palsy Journey
I was registered to take my Zumba B1

(Basic level 1 Instructor training) on May 1st, 2010.  But not even 4 days prior to this training... I woke up with Bell's Palsy!
After the scariest 3 days of my life, I realized that life must go on and I DID manage to make it to my B1 training that May!!!
(Robin Holm was my ZES and made the whole training super fun and memorable... but for me, the most memorable part was my dry, watery eye and the fact that I was SO TIRED!
My journey continues as Fitgirl15.... Continue to this page!
